Staying up-to-date, Regular review and update of processes.

In this ninth edition, we will discuss why organisations may not be getting the best from their technology and how they can address this, by considering the following:

  1. System - Staying up-to-date.

  2. Best Practice - Using it as intended.

  3. HR Operations - Regular review and update of processes.

Staying up-to-date

The team at Martha Travis People Innovators are working inside clients' ELMO systems every day; yet even we miss changes and improvements that are being made regularly in the ELMO system.

For company admins, you have a way to stay up-to-date by regularly reading the what's new broadcasts, which can be read by clicking on the question-mark in the bottom-right corner of your screen:

(Hopefully you don't have 75 unread)

Here are a few changes and improvements we have seen in the system in the last couple of months that we think are worth mentioning:

  • The addition of security profile that allows non-company admins to update dashboards. In the past, if the HR team wanted the Marketing team to help update the content on the Dashboard, they had to either obtain the content from Marketing and update the content themselves, or provide a representative from Marketing company admin access. Now, while we don't think Marketing people are particularly untrustworthy, it's usually not the done thing to provide access to team outside of HR to the personal information housed in the HRIS... so this new security profile fixes that.

  • Now there's also a bit of an inside scoop... ELMO are trying to work out how to best give access via this profile to the non-default boards (currently the profile gives access to only the default dashboard). One of our contacts at ELMO found a sneaky workaround while it's getting fixed... allocate
